This is me painting in the garage |
My name is Kerry Daley and I have been teaching Art since 1994. I am a qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. (major subjects: Drawing, Printmaking, Art History, Art Criticism and English) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (with distinction) from the same institution.
I have had valuable experiences as a school Art teacher, but realised my dream of opening my own teaching studio in May 2000, in Benoni, South Africa. In that studio, I was able to share my passion for drawing, painting, ceramics and crafts with people of all ages, from toddlers who came with their mothers, to a wonderful lady in her 90's.
Kerry Daley's Art Studio closed in at the end of 2005, when I immigrated to Brisbane, Australia with my husband and small daughter. I am happy to say that the wonderful people who attended my classes in South Africa were able to continue their creative journeys, as several former students opened their own successful Art teaching studios.
My adventure with Art has continued in Brisbane. I have attended some fabulous classes and courses, taught in several schools and have continued to make art and write about it. On a personal level, we are very happily settled in Australia, and have recently added a son to complete our family.
I started this blog in August 2010 to write about Art, to reconnect with former students and to continue my personal creative journey. I have a sincere love of art making, but it seems that my real passion lies in sharing what I learn.
